One of the most innovative discoveries of our times is social media. Its audience is on the rise, and by 2017 is expected to reach 2.55 billion.
In the beginning, we used it only to communicate and as a dating platform. Today there are more ways people use social media. We can use it to post updates from our life, as a marketing tool, as a news source, or as awareness and knowledge tool.
Social media is exactly what we’ve all been waiting for. Just think about it, we never had such a powerful method to communicate and so much free information available in the entire human history. We can easily express ourselves, support causes, share our thoughts, our ideas, and our experiences. We can connect ourselves from all over the world, ask questions and learn about our cultures, beliefs or traditions.
Nevertheless, we can expose injustice, inequality, and the imbalance in the world. There’s no doubt that the online world of social media has completely transformed the way we communicate.
Yes, we can also misuse it and see it as a bad thing. The paradox is that it is used to connect us but it can easily disconnect us, but I think we can really learn how to use it wisely.
Social media profiles are like an extension of ourselves, and if used consciously, it is one of the most powerful tools to change the world.
