A few months ago I moved to a new city to start my life from scratch for the umpteenth time. Close to where I live, there is a hill that it’s home to a castle ruin (elevation: 256 m).
On a sunny day of Sunday (Sunday…I know right? ? ), me and two of my roommates decided to climb the hill and find a nice place where we could just chill and stare at the sunset.
We did just that and after the sun was setting, I felt a boost in energy and my all-day concerns were gone. We repeated the experience a couple of times more and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to do it every weekend, whenever I have the opportunity (on clear sunny days).
What I actually do is to stare into the sun for 30 minutes before sunset, using the sun as a focal point. Then I try to enter into a meditation state (with eyes always open, looking at the sun) and if I find it difficult to meditate for some reason, then I will be totally mindful of the whole experience.
At the same time, I am visualizing in my mind the sun rays clearing all my unnecessary thoughts and energy that I picked up from the society.
If you are also interested in sungazing, then be cautious about it and don’t force yourself to stare into the sun if your eyes are too sensible.
The process was a bit challenging at first but I decided to stare into the sun as long as possible. I like to test my limits sometimes (there’s occasionally a stubborn voice in my head, putting me trough trouble ? ? ) that’s why I managed to do it for 30 minutes. If it is a long time or not, I don’t know, but it works for me.
I must admit that I had some headache at first. So if you want to do it, you better start progressively, with shorter time at first. Start with 5 or 10 minutes and notice how you feel after. There’s no need to force yourself, there will still be sunny days to practice (actually, these tips go for the stubborn me ? ).
The benefits of sungazing
I have done a bit of research about sungazing and all its benefits, here’s what I found:
- Increases melatonin and serotonin
- Improves quality of sleep
- Fights against fatigue
- Improves dream recall and lucid dreaming
- Increases pineal size
- Boosts energy
- Improves eyesight
- Improves endocrine health
For those of you who are patient, motivated, focused and willing to change how you view your lives and how you experience this existence, this practice can help you very deeply, accessing every level of your energy.
It is fact that light is the basic nutrient of all life; how we utilize, assimilate and understand this light can help us evolve.
Humans practice sungazing for a very long time and there are different methods and advice to do it corectly. I do it in my way and I encourage you to make your own research about this subject if it aroused your curiosity.
So many doctors warn us about how dangerous the sun is. On the contrary, studies have shown the healing power and all the benefits of the source of all life on Earth, The Sun.
